Passivhaus approve MVHR system

The Duplexvent DV150SE from Airflow has been awarded Passivhaus approval.

The certification process now means the Duplexvent unit can be incorporated into Passivhaus schemes - contributing to the energy efficient design and construction process.

John Kelly, marketing manager of Airflow said: 'We are thrilled that the Duplexvent has been awarded Passivhaus approval. The system provides a healthier indoor atmosphere, reducing levels of moisture and therefore the risk of damp and mold growth which can be harmful to both occupants and to the fabric of the building.

'In combination with our Airflex Pro semi rigid ducting system - recently accepted by UK Government as an input into SAP calculations via Appendix Q - the Duplexvent ensures an efficient, 'zero-leakage' installation and provides a contribution to a long-term reduction in carbon emissions and lower energy bills.'

Passivhaus schemes are known for their levels of insulation and ultra-low permeability rates, and the incorporation of a highly efficient mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system, such as the Duplexvent, often eliminates the need and significant cost of installing additional central heating.

The Duplexvent DV150SE has a heat recovery rate of more than 80 per cent. The unit is controlled automatically by the intelligent SED digital control system, which has optional sensor inputs for temperature and occupancy detection by using a CO2 sensor.
