New Year Honours include construction industry

Paul Westbury, ceo of international multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, Buro Happold, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List.
Tony Pidgley, founder and chairman of property developer, Berkeley Group, also received a CBE, as did Terry Bramall, the former owner of property services provider, Keepmoat.

Wendy Blundell, regional director of the Institution of Civil Engineers, was granted an OBE, as was Anne Ganley, md of Thompson Building Centres.

Other receipients of OBEs included Bill Bordass, the low-carbon buildings expert; David Bucknall, board chair of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); BIM expert, Mervyn Richards; and Dave Baker, chief executive of the certification body, Robust Details.

In addition, an MBE has been awarded to David Ridgeon, vice chairman of builders' merchant group, Ridgeons.
