Johnson Controls to hold industry competition

Johnson Controls is holding an industry competition to mark the UK introduction of York PureOil chiller lubricant.

The lubricant will be launched at the forthcoming HVAC and Refrigeration Exhibition, being held at Excel in London, January 23-25 2018.

All those registered on its EasyParts chiller spares website by midnight on the second day of the exhibition will be entered into a prize draw, with three premium Italian leather travel-bags up for grabs, each worth several hundred pounds.

Existing UK-based EasyParts users with active accounts will automatically be entered, plus all those registering between now and midnight on January 24. The winners will be announced on the final afternoon of the exhibition.

Alpesh Trivedi, product manager, said: “PureOil is an important global launch for JCI, and designed to combat sub-standard counterfeit lubricants that can damage compressors and result in expensive repairs and downtime for end users. The Excel show provides an excellent and timely launch pad for the official UK roll-out.”

He added: “As PureOil is available via our EasyParts spares website, we are keen to encourage installers and contractors to make use of this quick and convenient online ordering system. More than 3000 active users have already discovered the benefits, and we hope the incentive will encourage more installers to sign up and make use of the growing platform.”

Lubricants are a key component of chillers and cooling systems, protecting compressor wear surfaces and enabling proper performance and efficient operation. They also play a vital role reducing corrosion, which can quickly result in serious internal damage or mechanical breakdown.

Low grade counterfeit oils are becoming increasingly common. These often have inferior ingredients and may contain contaminants, such as harmful additives, and generally do not adhere to the tight specification laid down by the original equipment manufacturer.

This can result in chemical breakdown within a chiller, resulting in acid build up which can have devastating consequences for chiller performance and, in the most extreme cases, lead to total breakdown.

To protect chillers owners and operators from the risks of counterfeit oils, Johnson Controls has introduced YORK PureOil as a global range of authenticated and distinctly branded lubricants, guaranteed to meet the specifications for its chillers.
