Redundancies have been announced at W R Refrigeration which went into administration two weeks ago.
Based in Leicester, WR provides the installation, repair and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning units to the retail, distribution and wholesale sectors throughout the UK.
Administrators PriceWaterhouseCoopers said that 232 employees across the UK would lose their jobs.
On 30 October, the administrators announced the sale of a number of WR Refrigeration's major contracts to Integral, the independent property maintenance services provider. 249 WR staff are being transferred to Integral.
119 other staff are being retained to help the administrators.
PwC joint administrator Eddie Willliams said: 'Unfortunately, the level of interest and support for the remaining business means that we have no alternative than to begin the wind down of the Company.
'We have retained 119 employees to assist us and we will continue to explore options to support the transfer of people to other service providers.'
He added: 'I would like to thank all the employees for their cooperation since our appointment and we will look to support them at this difficult time.'
WR's turnover in the year to 31 December 2012 was £58m. The company was operating from five regional depots, with around 600 staff and a number of contractors.
However, it had been experiencing difficult trading conditions in recent months, which had led to a funding need. This funding, in addition to the significant investment already provided, was made available by the existing lenders and owners to help facilitate a turnaround of the business.
Despite this, continuing losses with associated cash pressures led to a winding up petition being issued by HMRC last month, which meant that the business required additional funding beyond that originally projected. WR was unable to secure this funding and as a result, the directors appointed administrators.
