Henderson Green wins framework

Henderson Green has secured a five year framework with Southampton General Hospital. The engineering consultancy won the work with Kier, which has been appointed as P21+ principal supply chain partner for University Hospital Southampton's NHS Foundation Trust capital programme of works.
Henderson Green will kick off its long-term contract by starting work on three projects. The radio pharmacy department, the hospital's pharmaceutical production facility, is being relocated in a £1.4 million project and a new resuscitation facility is being added to the main entrance of the hospital's emergency department.

Henderson Green is also involved in a £1.1m project which will see the University of Southampton asking Southampton General Hospital, in a tenant-landlord agreement, to manage the P21+ Faculty of Health Sciences reconfiguration which encompasses research, team space and laboratory areas.

Henderson Green specialises in renewable technologies and the design of engineering systems for complex buildings, both new build and refurbishments, for contracts up to £50m.

Meanwhile, Henderson Green says it is also playing an important role in the reconfiguration of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jersey General Hospital in St Helier. The consultancy was selected by States of Jersey Health & Social Services to undertake the complete mechanical and electrical designs for the new unit.

In the existing ICU department, care is currently split between medical, surgical and single isolation facilities.

The £2.5m scheme will bring the facilities together to create a fivebed combined unit and two isolation rooms, thus providing an ergonomically enhanced department.

When the work begins on this multiphased 'live' redevelopment, part of the ICU department will temporarily relocate to what will become a new High Dependency Unit (HDU). The construction of the new facility will be conducted while the remaining ICU elements are 'live' and will consist of a sequence of intricate phases, so as to not disrupt the Islands ICU operations.
