Guide targets heating controls

BEAMA has released a guide to help householders upgrade their central heating controls to get the best efficiency and comfort.

Heating controls are probably the most neglected energy- saving measure, which is surprising given that the boiler is by far the biggest energy using device in a home and upgrading controls is a relatively easy and cost- effective procedure.

The right heating controls can dramatically improve the efficiency of your boiler and reduce waste heat, while at the same time improving comfort.

Any householders intending to take advantage of the Government’s Green Home Grant Scheme to improve their insulation should be encouraged to maximise the effectiveness of the upgrade by improving their heating controls. These are a secondary measure which can be installed alongside insulation and included under the grant.
