'We were pleased to present this year's Award to Peter Schroeder, the Environment Manager at McDonald's UK - His work led to a reduction of 10 per cent in electricity consumption in 2009 across their 1200 restaurants. We look forward to taking part in the Environment and Energy Awards 2011 to give support to all UK energy managers and for the promotional branding opportunity that it gives to ESTA.'
Donna Bushell, event director for Sustainabilitylive!, said: 'The awards celebrate advancements in green technologies, excellence in energy management, and outstanding company performances and every year, the number and standard of entries rises. For us, it's an indication of how sustainability has become widely engrained in business cultures.'
