Caplin Homes, a house builder based in Leicestershire and specialising in energy efficient, sustainable homes, has achieved MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accreditation as an installer of renewable technologies.
The company is now authorised to install all the technologies essential to its Zero Carbon Solution system and its customers will be able to benefit from government-funded incentives.
Caplin Homes uses a combination of technologies within its projects, which is capable of meeting a building’s full heating and hot water requirements all year round. The Zero Carbon Solution is comprised of advanced solar energy capture through hybrid PV-T panel arrays, inter-seasonal energy storage within the building’s footprint, energy recovery using water-water heat pumps and a whole building energy management system, which optimises heat distribution throughout the year.
The appraisal process involved a day-long inspection of the renewable systems and necessary documents at the Leicester office, as well as a visit to a recently completed project to assess the quality of the installation. Caplin Homes achieved a ‘Very Good’ rating with the report stating that the staff showed a good knowledge of all required standards and that fitting was conducted to a very high quality.
The company was already an approved installer of PV systems and following the successful inspection, this approval has now been extended to the company’s ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps.
Company director Michael Goddard said: “Our Zero Carbon Solution proves that renewable technologies can be incorporated into regular houses, providing a low maintenance, unobtrusive and cost effective alternative. This MCS accreditation will help us to promote our technology offering and also demonstrates the quality of our services.”
