Dragons and contractors chase Wright product

Sharon Wright, inventor of the contractor aid MagnaMole, got all the financial backing she asked for from dragons Duncan Bannatyne and James Caan after delivering a winning presentation on television, but contractors were already impressed with the product.

Watched by millions of television viewers on July 22, four out of five dragons competed with each other for the chance to invest in the health and safety product's future.

MagnaMole helps contractors save time and money by quickly theading cables through cavity walls and void spaces with ease. Contractors' adoption of the device reduces the risk of contractors' getting electric shocks caused by use of inapproriate tools such as bent coat hanger wire to guide cables through walls.

The product has already being sold by Schneider Electric as part of an exclusive distribution deal and this week was given an extra boost following Wright's successful pitch on the hit BBC2 show Dragons' Den.

Sharon Wright said: 'Securing funding from Duncan and James has allowed me to employ staff, freeing up some of my time to work on other projects. The backing of Schneider Electric really supported me in breaking into the contractor market and gave me the confidence I needed to take the product into the den'.

Schneider Electric has been distributing the MagnaMole as part of its Tower range and so far the new tool has been proving popular with electrical contractors.

As well as reducing the risk of electric shocks, MagnaMole cuts down the risk of unnecessary damage to property or other cables in wall cavities.

Marc Gaunt, residential product manager from Schneider Electric, said: 'I first met Sharon at an exhibition and immediately saw the benefits of MagnaMole. The product is such a simple idea yet it offers a quicker, safer solution for electrical contractors and has been a hit with our customers'.
