Domestic heating manufacturer earns B Corp Certification

tepeo, the pioneering British ClimateTech company behind the ZEB, has announced it has achieved B Corp certification, becoming the first sustainable domestic heating manufacturer to do so. This certification places tepeo among a select group of only 9,000 businesses worldwide using their influence to create positive social and environmental impact.

As a newly certified B Corp, tepeo has demonstrated an uncompromising commitment to high standards in governance, social impact, and environmental stewardship. This certification follows an extensive evaluation by B Lab, the nonprofit organisation behind B Corp, which rigorously assesses companies across five key areas: governance, workers, customers, community, and environment.

Johan du Plessis, chief executive of tepeo, commented: “Achieving B Corp status is something that has been very important to me personally - we are taking it upon ourselves to set the example for others in the heating industry to follow. As the first domestic heating manufacturer to reach this milestone, we’re proudly paving the way for a more responsible, sustainable approach to home heating. Our mission is not only to help households reduce their carbon footprint but to set a new standard for ethics and accountability in our sector.”

He continued: “B Corp certification brings benefits across the board – from building customer trust and loyalty to strengthening employee engagement and community connections. We are proud to be part of a movement that values purpose as much as profit and encourages transparency and continuous improvement. By joining this global network, we’re aligning with other like-minded businesses, positioning ourselves for sustainable growth, and attracting customers and partners who care about social and environmental impact. This certification is more than a milestone; it’s a commitment to keep pushing ourselves and our industry forward.”

tepeo’s ZEB heat battery boiler offers a low-carbon alternative to traditional gas and oil boilers, helping households to heat their homes sustainably without compromising on the warmth they’re used to with their existing fossil fuel boiler. This advancement aligns with tepeo’s mission to contribute meaningfully to the UK’s net-zero ambitions while ensuring transparency and accountability in all business practices.
