Daikin seizes opportunities presented by climate change legislation

Daikin UK has welcomed MP Ed Davey's speech at the launch of the Climate Legislation Initiative in London on 15 January, during the Globe Climate Legislation Summit.
Speaking about climate change, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change said: 'we share one imperative - heading off the prospect of catastrophic climate change in the future, by taking real and meaningful action now'. In addition, he said the 'drive for low-carbon energy can be a real engine of growth for hard-pressed economies around the world'.

Daikin UK backs Davey's assertion that 'you can move towards low carbon solutions and still be economically competitive in this globalised world'. The company is continually innovating to deliver a range of solutions that meet changing legislative requirements and will support the Government's forthcoming international climate treaty in 2015.

The company says it was the first to market with a new range of seasonally efficient air conditioning solutions for light commercial environments. The Sky Air range has been optimised to meet the requirements of the Energy-related Products (ErP) Directive, introduced in January 2013, which demands a new energy labelling system displaying seasonal efficiency ratings (SEER and SCOP) for air conditioning products of less than 12kW.

Managing director of Daikin UK, Peter Verkempynck, said: 'It is important to realise that products which meet this new seasonal efficiency legislation will be much more energy efficient than older products and can therefore provide substantial savings in terms of carbon emission and energy consumption'.
