The key innovation that sets the VRV5 apart is Daikin's proprietary Shîrudo Technology, that removes the need for extra EN 378 toxicity leak detection. This simplifies the installation process, reducing complexity and costs while maintaining the safety standards through discreet, built-in features including alarm systems, invisible leak detection, and shut-off valves that ensure EN 378 compliance.
The Company held 299 patents for R-32 VRF that have subsequently been released to the public free of charge; and designed and built the first Mini-VRV in Europe in 2020, followed by the first full DX R-32 VRV Heat Recovery system in 2022.
Steve Molloy, sustainability & commercial solutions manager at Daikin, said: “Reaching the incredible milestone of over 32,000 VRV5 installations across Europe highlights the confidence customers have in Daikin’s technology and innovation. Our Shîrudo Technology is game-changing, removing the need for additional EN 378 leak detection equipment and making VRV5 quicker and easier to install, without compromising on safety.
“Our VRV5 system also sets a new benchmark for sustainability. With up to three Pol01 BREEAM credits and full EPD and TM65 carbon data, it stands out as the most sustainable variable refrigerant flow system on the market.”
