CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2015 open for entries

The CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’) Building Performance Awards 2015, which recognise demonstrated excellence in building performance, are now open for entries.

This year two new categories – Lighting for Building Performance and Building Control System – have been introduced to reflect developments in the provision of modern building services. The awards categories recognise projects, products and the people who make a measurable difference to building performance.

The Awards are being officially launched today at an event hosted by Marks & Spencer, the CIBSE Carbon Champion of the Year 2014.

Firmly established in the industry calendar and of considerable topical significance, the Awards recognise and reward the best examples of actual performance, innovation and practice in optimising how buildings work.

This year the Awards welcome two new categories: Lighting for Building Performance, which will recognise the importance of natural lightscapes within the built environment and their impact on energy consumption; and Building Control System which will recognise the importance of integrated and automated control systems to manage and maintain optimum building performance.

The full list of categories includes:

  • Building Services Consultancy (up to 100 employees)
  • Building Services Consultancy (over 100 employees)
  • Building Performance Training Programme

The deadline for entries to this year’s awards is 11 September. The shortlist will be announced on 28 October and the Awards Dinner will take place on 10 February 2015.

A discussion focusing on entry criteria and processes will take place at the Awards launch, with CIBSE technical director and chairman of the judging panel, Hywel Davies, also available to answer questions.

As CIBSE members and attendees from across the built environment sector celebrate the launch of the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2015, Munish Datta, Head of Facilities Management and Plan A at Marks & Spencer will present on how they have achieved a 44% decrease in operational carbon and 43% reduction in operational energy at the retailer’s Cheshire Oaks store.
