CEOs highlight benefits of a sustainable built environment

A series of short essays outlining the business case for green buildings and infrastructure have been written by ceos from 15 major companies, from design and construction firms, to engineers and energy companies, including Atkins, Balfour Beatty and E.ON.
Published by the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) and entitled 'Leadership for Green Growth', the essays demonstrate the broad level of consensus across a diverse group of industry leaders on why sustainability issues are now a key business concern and how government policy can help meet environmental and economic goals.

UK-GBC says the essays build on the work of its Leaders' Network, which brings together senior figures from the built environment sector 'to create a unique dialogue around sustainability and business'.

In January this year UK-GBC coordinated a letter to Chancellor George Osborne, which was co-signed by industry associations across the construction and property sector and presenting the case for green growth.
