BSRIA to unveil Introduction to BIM training course

BSRIA is launching a new Introduction to BIM training course on 24 July.
BSRIA to unveil Introduction to BIM training course
Interest around BIM is gaining momentum, driven by the Government's requirement for level 2 BIM to be used on all of its capital projects by 2016.

The new, one-day course will give delegates a clear understanding of what BIM is, how it works, the UK Government's strategy and what it means for construction projects.

BIM can be a mechanism to make high quality information about the asset available, from design through to operation, enabling better decisions to be made during procurement and providing an improved level of data to the FM team.

The course will also inform delegates about how BIM relates to the Government Construction Strategy and what they need to do to meet the BIM objectives on projects.

BSRIA says the training will be of value to professionals involved in the design, construction and operation of the built environment, who want to know how they can benefit from using a BIM process. This will include designers and architects, contractors, FMs and clients.

Course lecturer, John Sands, an engineer with 25 years' experience in building services design and specification, recently joined the BSRIA's Sustainable Buildings Group as a principal consultant. He is driving the development of BIM within BSRIA and helping the industry to understand the principles and practices which define BIM. He is also giving support in making best use of this in everyday operations via the BIM Centre, a joint venture with BRE (launching soon) and the BSRIA BIM Network group.
