BSRIA extends heat pump testing UKAS accreditation

BSRIA has extended its scope of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation to include part load testing of heat pumps.

BSRIA has extended its scope of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation to include part load testing of heat pumps.

The association already provides heat pump testing in accordance with BS EN 14511 and BS EN 12102 and is now accredited to test to meet with BS EN 14825 for part load testing and seasonal efficiency.

It operates a specialist heat pump test chamber offering clients compliance testing in agreement with a range of UK and European incentive schemes, quality labels and directives, including: the ErP Directive; MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme); EHPA QL (European Heat Pump Association Quality Label);  Heat Pump Keymark;
ETL (Energy Technology List); and HARP (Home-heating Appliance Register of Performance).

Each of the incentive schemes, quality labels and directives outlines specific testing criteria, which are drawn from the standard rating conditions and climates outlined in BS EN 14511 and BS EN 14825. Carrying out such testing allows like-for-like comparisons to be made between different products.

Rebecca Hogg (pictured above), who manages the heat pump test facility, said: “The extension of our scope complements our existing UKAS accredited testing services and provides the customer with the assurance they are getting internationally recognised quality test data. Independent laboratory testing gives confidence to customers and consumers and plays an important role when delivering a product to market.”
