BSRIA event offers an overview of construction processes for young engineers

10.50 Soft Landings Workshop – Dr Michelle Agha-Hossein

BSRIA is staging ‘an overview of construction processes’ as part of its programme of Young Engineers’ Network events on Friday 28th April, from 9:30 – 14:00 hrs at its offices in Bracknell.

It is urging industry to attend and to learn more and interact with like-minded professionals.

The event is aimed at those who have been in the industry for less than 10 years and gives an interactive overview of some of the key elements of the design and construction process. We will be looking at why Soft Landings is important and how it should be implemented, along with how Government Soft Landings and BIM can work together.

It is important to evaluate the performance of a completed building after the building has been occupied to ensure that the building is functioning well at all times, this is known as Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) which is the final stage of Soft Landings. This event also gives an interactive session about POE.

BSRIA’s Instrument Solutions Department will be showing engineers some of the tools of the trade for just some of the tests carried out on buildings.

Tracey Tilbry, networks & events manager at BSRIA (pictured), said: “Young engineers are essential to the future of the workforce of tomorrow within the construction industry. It is crucial that they are nurtured and supported as they move along their respective career paths. Above all, these events are a fantastic opportunity to network and share best practice with your peers, clients and competitors.”

This key event is run as a series of events for BSRIA’s well-established Young Engineers’ Network.

Venue: BSRIA Ltd, Old Bracknell Lane West, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 7AH
