GENERA'08, the International Energy and Environment Fair, is now an annual event and will focus on biomass energy when it kicks off in Madrid on February 26-28.
To raise awareness of biomass as a form of alternative energy, GENERA '08 will stage a series of conferences on the theme of 'Bio-Fuels and Biomass', as well as the 'Fourth Bio-Energy Conference', (the latter in collaboration with the Technical Association for the Management of Waste and the Environment).

GENERA'O8, organised by IFEMA, will present recent renewable energy advances in particular in biomass.

A report produced by the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that 10% of primary energy throughout the world comes from resources linked to this source, including those relating to liquid bio-fuels and biogas.

The production of thermal energy based on biomass is a simple way of employing biomass as a fuel in homes.

In Europe, some 54% of renewable primary energy comes from this source. However, it only accounts for 4% of total energy production. According to the Year 2006 EuroObserver Barometer on Renewable Energies, France ranked first in Europe regarding the production of primary biomass energy.
