HVCA chief executive Blane Judd and Martin Bailey of NG Bailey - one of the six companies still involved in the contentious BESNA (Building Engineering Services National Agreement) - are understood to be meeting Unite Union general secretary Len McCluskey today to discuss taking back the BESNA contracts and modernising payment terms for m&e workers.
The move follows Balfour Beatty's surprise withdrawal from BESNA negotiations last week.
The remaining six firms associated with the agreement are NG Bailey, Crown House, Gratte Brothers, Spie Matthew Hall, Shepherd Engineering and T Clarke.
Last week the HVCA claimed that almost 90 per cent of workers were signed up to BESNA.

Earlier, US union the International Brotherhood of Teamsters called upon Balfour Beatty's chief executive Ian Tyler to intervene in what it called an 'employer offensive against construction workers'.
Teamsters general president James Hoffa said: 'If this dispute is not resolved to the satisfaction of my colleagues in the UK we will have no option but to demonstrate our support. I am sure that neither of us would welcome this development.'
