BCIA is joining forces with B&ES (Building and Engineering Services Association) at its National Conference next year to underline the importance of integration for better building performance.
The BCIA National Conference 2013 takes place on 9 May 2013 at St John's Hotel, Solihull. It will look at how legislation and incentives such as the Green Deal, Part L and RHI, are encouraging contractors and building managers to ensure that buildings perform as they are designed. An integrated approach is vital to ensure long-term energy-efficient building operation.
Ian Ellis, BCIA President, said: 'We are delighted to work with the B&ES on this event. The topic itself is very important to our membership who are often responsible for ensuring that the hvac systems of a building operate in an integrated and energy-efficient way.'
B&ES president Sue Sharp added: 'There are far too many renewable and low carbon projects failing to meet the expectations of end users. Yet, it is more important than ever that we deliver on our energy efficiency promises to protect building users from soaring fuel costs and to cut carbon emissions.
'The only way to ensure that low carbon technologies work to their full potential is to make them part of properly integrated, whole-building solutions and this depends on contractors working hand-in-hand with the controls industry. This joint project with the BCIA is, therefore, a key strategic development for B&ES,' she added.
Speakers at next year's event include Jacqueline Balian, head of operations for the Renewable Heat Incentive at Ofgem; Colin Braidwood, who is responsible for energy management and the sustainability agenda at Dixons retail stores and distribution network; Mark Oliver, director of business services for Wales & West Utilities; and David Frise, chair of the B&ES BIM Group.
