Organisers of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy are calling for submissions from UK businesses focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Ashden Awards are for businesses working in the built environment that encourage the use of sustainable energy and/or changing the way people use energy.
The awards aim to recognise ground-breaking sustainable energy initiatives, and will be presented at a VIP ceremony in London in May 2012.
In addition to individual prizes of up to £10,000, with an overall UK Gold Award of £20,000, winners are offered a package of benefits and support including a broadcast-quality short film about their winning work, tailored business support, introductions to influential policy makers and, in certain cases, funders.
Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud, who presented the awards in 2011, commented: 'The Ashden Awards are vital because they bring to light such unusual, brilliant and undersung projects that deserve to be better recognised. The winners are all marked by ingenuity and originality.'
Previous winners have included manufacturers, suppliers, installers and businesses working in the built environment including architects and plumbing engineers.
Entries are also encouraged from not-for-profit initiatives, schools, behaviour changing projects and international schemes.
All entries need to be submitted by 25 October, 2011
