Altecnic Intaball valves attain new standard

The Altecnic Intaball range of gas lever ball valves is one of the first UK products to be certified to EN 331:2015 (Class C).

Committed to achieving the latest industry standards, Altecnic has been working closely with BSI’s Loughborough-based product certification team and the Centre of Excellence for the past two and a half years.

Now, the company can demonstrate compliance with European directives and regulations relating to the ball valves and OEM equipment it manufactures and supplies across UK domestic and commercial markets.

A successful assessment conducted at Altecnic’s manufacturing partner’s facility in Italy has ensured that all the necessary processes are in place for the manufacture of components in accordance with EN 331:2015 (Class C).

Gary Perry, managing director at Altecnic, said: “We are proud to have worked with the team at BSI to achieve one of the first UK certifications to this important new standard.

“As testament to our ‘future-proofing’ philosophy, it means our customers can be confident that Altecnic products meet, and in many cases exceed, industry standards throughout their life cycle, irrespective of technological advances and a changing commercial landscape.

“We also continue to encourage all in the plumbing and heating industry to ensure they are buying, specifying and installing authentic, accredited products.”

BSI has been granted Gas Appliance Regulations (GAR) certification CE 698408. Based on European Standard EN 331:2015, which incorporates additional and stringent testing under fire conditions, it is the benchmark by which ‘state of the art’ compliance is judged for products that can be incorporated into gas appliances.

In due course, BSI will issue Construction Product Regulation (CPR) certification, centred around EN 331:1998 + A1:2018, which is listed in the EU Official Journal as providing the necessary presumption of conformity.

Altecnic’s Intaball ball valves for gas are lever-operated through 90 degrees with bi-directional flow and incorporate a hard chrome-plated ball for improved wear resistance. Featuring PTFE body seats for reliable isolation, the valves are designed for applications characterised by high flow rates with minimum pressure drops.
