Plumbing Innovation: What is Changing in the Industry?

The plumbing business is embracing innovation like never before, from eco-friendly fixtures to smart home systems and advanced plumbing tool kits. Technological advancements mean that plumbers can complete their tasks more efficiently and offer services of a higher standard. In this article, we will examine some of the major advancements that are changing the plumbing landscape and transforming the work process for professional tradesmen.

Smart Home Integration

The popularity of smart home integration has skyrocketed in recent years and shows no signs of slowing down. Many homes are now kitted out with some sort of smart technology, whether that’s thermostats to control central heating systems or devices that are controlled by voice commands, you’ll be hard-pushed to find modern homes that don’t have some sort of smart technology making people’s lives easier. In bathrooms and kitchens, for example, smart technology systems can help detect leaks, and monitor water usage and flow rates.

Leak Detection

As touched upon in the previous section, one of the biggest steps forward in terms of innovation in the plumbing industry is new ways to detect leaks.

Advanced sensors, acoustic devices and thermal imaging offer a more efficient, faster non-invasive solution for plumbers. Not only will this save you time, but it can also save money and help you identify a leak before any possible serious damage takes place.

Eco-Friendly Fixtures

There’s a huge drive to make homes and businesses eco-friendly and more sustainable, and plumbing is no exception.

Starting within the home, reducing the amount of water you use on a daily basis can have a huge positive impact on the environment. Products such as low-flow toilets and water-saving showerheads are readily available, and people all over are choosing to opt for these fixtures in their homes in an effort to be more sustainable.

Many bathroom fixtures are now made from recycled materials like plastics, which is another step towards minimising the impact the production of these products has on the environment. Small steps like this can make a big difference.

VR in Plumbing

Although this has only recently come into play, many firms and businesses are choosing to use VR for things like plumbing design, installation and maintenance.

The use of VR could prove to be revolutionary for plumbing professionals and will make planning and executing huge projects so much easier. Errors and potential issues with construction can be identified before work begins which will save time and money.

Using VR will also allow businesses to show their clients projections and plans by creating an immersive experience through a VR headset, so they can get a clearer picture of how the project will look when it’s brought to life.
