Independent tests show efficacy of air purifier

Independent tests have shown that a new mobile air purifier rapidly reduces concentrations of ultra-fine, virus-sized particles in the air.

The research, carried out by the UK Building Research Establishment (BRE), demonstrated that Carrier's OptiClean air scrubber and negative air pressure machine cuts levels of airborne particulates in the critical size range (up to 1µm diameter), which encompasses viruses and virus-containing aerosolised droplets, by around two thirds within 30 minutes.

Fuel poor blocked from gas access

A fuel poverty campaigner and chief executive of the trade body, Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA), has today called for the regulator to clamp down on energy suppliers who are blocking measures to tackle fuel poverty.

Mr Mike Foster, chief executive of the EUA, has written to Jonathan Brearley, asking for a very public slap down of those suppliers who are refusing to connect a gas meter to new customers who are getting fuel poor relief from the gas networks.
