The new company is predicted to become a £7m business within three years.
The directors of A1 Expo Ltd have been laying the groundwork for the new business since spring this year by building a sales team which plans to corner the UK domestic flue and chimney market. The new company is aiming to become the UK’s leading supplier of small-diameter flue components and flue liner, supplying independent stove shops, builders’ merchants and heating engineers.
It specialises in flue systems from 125mm up to 200mm and is a one-stop shop for installers of small-scale chimney systems and for retailers who sell wood-burning stoves. Products include: twin-wall insulated flue systems, single-wall flue systems, cowls, chimney fans, core vents, stove fans and carbon monoxide detectors.
Director TJ Duncan-Moir said that A1 Expo combines the Nottinghamshire firm’s expertise in commercial flue and chimney systems with the Milan-based company’s European market dominance in the manufacture of flue lining.
She said: “A1 Flue Systems is firmly established as the UK market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of commercial and industrial chimney, flue and exhaust systems – but we have long harboured ambitions of being equally dominant in the domestic market. To make a success of it, we needed to partner with an industry heavyweight, and Expo Inox fitted the bill perfectly.
“It was important to create the new standalone company, which is equally split between A1 Flues and Expo Inox, and to start building a team that is solely focused on achieving the potential of A1 Expo.”
TJ added: “This is such a momentous occasion for a family-run business from Nottinghamshire that started from very humble beginnings. All the directors are very excited at the prospect of what A1 Expo can achieve.”
Mauro Travini from Expo Inox said that the company has an existing supplier network in the UK but was looking to take this to the next level in creating its own dedicated Expo presence.
He said: “The new business is a partnership between two companies that are market leaders in their respective sectors. Through A1 Expo, we both have an opportunity to offer a range of flue products and liner that have no equal.
A1 Expo will initially be based from A1 Flue Systems’ premises in New Ollerton, but a planning application is being sought for its own purpose-built premises within the next 12 months. It has already appointed industry specialists Peter Cooke as its national sales manager and Sam Lowe as an area sales manager for the north of England.
