A vehicle is stolen every five minutes in the UK which is nearly 300 a day.

The home office statistics report that 111,999 vehicles were stolen in 2017-2018. Over the past five years there has been an increase in this type of crime of 48.7 per cent.

The RAC suggests that the 22 thousand fewer police officers around, as a result of budget cuts, has also had an impact on this increase in crime.
