The occasion, which formed part of the manufacturer’s 60th anniversary celebrations and ongoing sustainability programme, was organised by Fernox to support its local council’s ambitious climate strategy. Surrey County Council has pledged to plant 1.2 million trees in Surrey, one for every resident, by 2030, as part of its aim to be carbon neutral by 2050.
The tree planting event is just one of Fernox’s many initiatives forming part of its continued focus on care and giving under its corporate ‘ESI Cares’ programme. ESI Cares empowers Fernox employees to support their chosen charities and local causes and offers donation matching as well as paid time off for all staff to participate in volunteering activities of their choice.
Ernie McDonald, general manager at Fernox said: “Giving back to the community we’ve been part of for so many years is something we’re deeply passionate about and this event was a meaningful opportunity for us to support our local area as well as make a contribution to the health of the planet. I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part and braved the cold weather to work together and make this happen.”
Established in 1964, Fernox is a leading manufacturer of water treatment chemical products, central heating system filters, plumbing consumables and diagnostic testing services and has pioneered the development of energy efficient products both for traditional and renewable technology in domestic and commercial applications.
