Help from the B&ES to install renewables

The B&ES is offering help to members and non-members alike to get up to speed with the requirements needed in order to install renewable technologies.

Help from the B&ES to install renewables

To install renewable energy equipment of less than 45kw you must be a member of the Renewable Energy Assurance Limited (REAL), a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and a Competent Person Scheme (e.g. BESCA)

To help the industry to take advantage of this growing area of technology, the B&ES is offering help through its links with each of these bodies to help members to get the certification needed. The B&ES also offers training at a variety of levels for members and non-members. The training offered ranges from introductory level courses in renewable energy and understanding MCS, to the installation of specific renewable technologies, for more information contact the B&ES Education and Training department.

Not a member of REAL?

The B&ES has negotiated, for its members a 50% discount on membership of REAL. REAL is currently the only operator of an Office of Fair Trading approved consumer code, which is a requirement of MCS and the Feed-In Tariffs they seek to attract.

The discount is open to all B&ES members and even existing members of REAL. To claim the discount members need to complete and submit an application form to REAL.

Not a member of MCS?

B&ES members have access to a tailor-made Microgeneration Certification Scheme for installers of renewable technologies through a strategic alliance between B&ES subsidiary Building Engineering Services Competence Accreditation (BESCA) and independent certification body, NICEIC. More information can be obtained from BESCA MCS.

Not a member of a Competent Person Scheme?

BESCA is an independent assessment and certification body for the building services industry. It is authorised by Government to operate a Competent Person Scheme for self-certification of commercial and domestic hvacr work under the Building Regulations (England & Wales).  More information can be obtained from BESCA.
