EC fan controls seminar well received
The latest in the ebm-papst series of carbon reduction seminars went down well with a mixed audience from various sectors related to the built environment despite being of a more technical nature.
In addition to Technical Director Geoff Lockwood’s CPD presentation on relevant environmental legislation and how it affects the products to be used in future HVAC systems, electronics engineer Paul Clarke discussed the control options available for fan applications.
Paul managed to make a potentially dull subject very entertaining and he demystified some of the terms such as PWM and ModBus used by electronics engineers in BMS and other control systems. His comparisons with AC motor options left the audience in no doubt that EC motor technology offers huge potential for advanced, low cost demand control solutions with the resultant benefits of reduced energy consumption, improved performance and lower maintenance costs.
ebm-papst are holding a series of seminars on carbon reduction through EC fan technology at their Client Centre in Chelmsford , Essex. A calendar of scheduled events can be found on their EC microsite at
