S&P has launched a range of heat/energy recovery wheels to enable building operators to reduce heating, humidification and cooling costs while minimising CO2 emissions. The thermal wheels can be supplied complete with frame and on-board controls, or as a stand-alone rotor for OEMs.
S&P thermal wheels feature a honeycomb heat exchange
surface in the rotary heat exchanger to maximise surface area, with a special
hygroscopic coating to provide enhanced humidity control. Heat recovery rates
often exceed 85%, depending on conditions.
A key feature of the S&P thermal wheel is the
Rotormatrix design of the rotor, comprising a layer of flat aluminium or steel,
alongside a corrugated layer. This creates small air channels which enable
efficiency and pressure drop to be adjusted and optimised.
Rotors are supplied in 200mm or 250mm widths as standard, and
wheel diameters run from 260mm to 5000mm. They can be supplied with special
anti-corrosive coatings for aggressive environments and anti-bacterial coatings
for areas such as clean rooms, hospitals etc. Rotor housings can also be
manufactured to meet specific needs.
To ensure maximum efficiency each rotor is available with a
specially designed frequency controller to ensure the thermal wheel responds
quickly to changing conditions, thus delivering optimum performance.
