Lochinvar's managing director David Pepper is the new president of ICOM Energy association.
ICOM E A, represents the UK commercial and industrial heating sector and celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. David succeeds former president Anthony Ellis of Burnertech Combustion Engineers.
David Pepper said “The association has made a major contribution helping manufacturers through the recent legislative changes, and there is more important work to do here with the next revision of Part L of the Building Regulations and the Energy Using Products directive to name but two planned programmes.”
'Negotiating the industry through the next stages of legislation will be an important part of my tenure as president”.
Pepper also stressed the importance of promoting a better understanding of the role of renewables.
“Many people are rushing to throw money at renewables to ‘tick the box’ at the expense of greater potential efficiencies in more traditional systems', he said.
'We must educate them that to create and meet our obligations to reduce emissions and slow climate change is not just about buying technology, but also running whole buildings and heating systems better and smarter.”
David has been involved in ICOM's UK commercial boiler group and direct fired water heating group where he has been chairman for the last three years.
