OFTEC launches renewables scheme

Stowmarket-based installer David Brown of E & D Boiler Maintenance has become the first person to be approved under the Oil Firing Technical Association's (OFTEC) newly launched renewables registration scheme.
OFTEC launches renewables scheme
OFTEC is offering one of the first competent persons schemes for renewable technologies.

The renewables category, known as OFT500 series, has been created to complement OFTEC’s existing oil heating registration scheme so that installers have the option of attending one or more of the four different registration classes now offered by OFTEC.

These are:

1)OFT501 Solar thermal

2)OFT502 Solar PV

3)OFT503 Ground Source Heat pumps

4)OFT504 Air Source Heat Pumps

OFTEC have developed its registration scheme in response to increasing interest in renewable technologies such as with solar, heat pumps and wind turbines.

David Brown received his registration certificate from former OFTEC Chairman Brian Lelliott at OFTEC’s Oil Heating Show held in Norwich. E & D Boiler Maintenance employs eight engineers, and is experienced in installing renewable technologies including solar and ground source heat pumps.

OFTEC's registration services manager Paul Sharpe said “We’re not aware of anyone else doing a registration scheme with renewable technology. This is a fast growing area and I’m sure there will be many more organisations offering this within a year”.

To register for the scheme call OFTEC on 0845 6585 080
