Logic4training calls on employers to take on an apprentice

Logic4training is looking for employers to take on and/or provide support for would-be apprentices who have completed its new course, Access to Building Services Engineering, City & Guilds (C&G) 2000 - Level 1, which it is delivering in partnership with the Job Centre and Pearson in Practice.

The course is designed for anyone over 19 looking to work in plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilation or refrigeration and air conditioning based roles, such as installers and builders merchants. Access to Building Services Engineering, C&G 2000 provides a stepping-stone onto the apprenticeship programme, giving trainees a good grounding in their chosen trade, plus general employability advice, including putting a CV together and presentation techniques.

Training is free with candidates fed from Jobcentre's in the area, providing a great opportunity for unemployed in the region.

"With over one million young people aged 18-24 currently out of work it is vital that the building services sector takes a lead in finding meaningful employment and apprenticeships for some of these individuals," said Mark Krull from Logic4training. "The first nine students are currently being trained and so far their enthusiasm and feedback has been very positive."

Employers will have to pay some of the apprentice's wages as they are over 19, but there are benefits in taking on an older apprentice, particularly one that has been on the Access to Building Services course- they will have already obtained some underpinning knowledge and, by attending training in the first place, expressed their commitment to getting a job.

Businesses who wish to offer apprenticeship placements, or general employment, should call 0845 845 7222, or visit www.logic4training.co.uk for more information.

Potential Access to Building Services, C&G 2000 candidates, should contact their local job centre (free training is only available for individuals in the Luton area fed through the job centre, the course can be taken by anyone, although fees are payable).
