Wolseley awarded public sector deal


Wolseley has been awarded a framework agreement for 'Building Materials & Associated Managed Services' by the procurement partner for UK public services.

Wolseley's framework agreement with public sector procurement partner Buying Solutions, enables Wolseley to provide any product or equipment within six product groups to any public sector body including local authorities, housing associations and consortia - without the need for the customer to go through a competitive tender process.

Wolseley was successful in securing six product groups which includes building materials and managed services, industrial heating and pipeline supplies and plant hire.

Steve Ashmore, MD -Wolseley Heavyside division, said: "We were delighted to achieve this accreditation which demonstrates our compliance with a range of criteria including financial stability, health and safety records, IT capabilities corporate responsibility and quality systems. It will simplify working together with our public sector customers who can be confident their collaboration with Wolseley is in line with best practice procurement processes."

Wolseley UK provides construction products and materials through a nationwide specialist trade branch network including the Plumb Center, Build Center, Pipe Center, Drain Center, Climate Center, Parts Center, Electric Center, Encon, Brandon Hire and William Wilson chains.

Seems that the bigger your company the more powerful you are.

This will take away business from local suppliers. We will end up with cheap foreign imported goods fitted in our homes, schools and other buildings which should all be constructed by local labour and by using British manufactured goods where possible. It is quite obvious that price is everything and quality means nothing.
