Daikin Altherma residential heating system awarded the European Eco-label

The European Eco-label, also known as 'the Flower,' denotes products and services with high environmental performance. Products bearing the label are certified to meet EU environmental criteria and compliance is verified by an independent test body. The Eco-label scheme, available for 28 product groups, including heat pumps, is voluntary and represents products at the top of their class in environmental performance.

Daikin Altherma uses renewable aero-thermal energy
Altherma, the culmination of decades of Daikin experience with heat pump technology, efficiently extracts low-level heat from the ambient air and raises it to temperatures capable of comfortably heating a house and providing domestic hot water in outdoor temperatures down to -20º C. In doing so, Altherma makes use of renewable aero-thermal energy. The heat pump technology employed is highly efficient (3 to 5 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed.

In being awarded the EU Eco-label, Altherma was assessed for its heating and cooling efficiency, refrigerant global warming potential (GWP), noise, absence of RoHS substances, training, documentation, availability of spare parts and detailed information at point of sale. The outcome indicated that Altherma has higher energy efficiency and less global warming impact than other heat pump products in its class.

The award, recognised throughout Europe, has many benefits for producers and retailers in that It signifies that the product in question is among the most environmentally friendly in its range and that it has been subjected to strict testing with respect to environmental quality, technical performance and durability.

Daikin Europe N.V. is the first company in its sector to gain the European Eco-label, underlining its ongoing commitment to the environment.
