LG welcomes new experts

LG has welcomed two new faces to its team as it steps up its presence in the UK heating marketplace. Andrew Hooper has joined as UK and Ireland heating manager and Alastair Kay joins as heating technical manager.

Andy Hooper and Alastair Kay, LG Electronics.

The two will be primarily responsible for the promotion and sales of the Therma V range of air to water heat pumps that includes the new R32 Therma V Units - the recently launched Therma V monoblocs and Split systems along with the increasingly popular high temperature Splits.

Mr Hooper joined LG from Hitachi Europe where he was most recently UK and Ireland heating manager. Prior to this he led the sales team at Atass Energy responsible for promoting the installation of Solar PV systems, ground and air source heat pumps. Earlier in his career he spent 10 years with Nu-Heat Underfloor Heating and Renewables as key accounts manager, sales manager and then business development manager. Following this he was area sales manager with Flogas Renewables in the South West and South Wales.

Mr Kay is originally from South Africa and went to Sheffield Hallam University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and secured a placement with Worcester Bosch, where his career in the heating sector began. After a while he moved into training and began providing installer training for air source and ground source heat pump installations. He then moved to a distributor where he delivered a mix of sales and training.

In 2015 Mr Hooper asked Mr Kay to join him at Hitachi on sales, training, technical help and troubleshooting activities and he recently followed Mr Hooper to LG to perform a similar role as heating technical manager.

LG’s general manager for air conditioning and energy solutions in the UK, Hugo Lambourn, commented: “These are important appointments for us at this critical time as we expand our capabilities in the air to water heat pump sector. The growth in interest in - and expansion of - the Therma V range is putting LG in a strong position as we look to see an eruption of air source heat pumps replacing fossil fuel heating systems across the UK and Ireland in the next five or six years.”
