J S Wright gains heat network consultant status

Leading building services contractor J S Wright has reinforced its reputation for excellence in low carbon engineering after securing heat network consultant status.

Four engineers from the mechanical and electrical design and build specialist, which has offices in Birmingham, Bristol and London, have received the accreditation from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

They all passed a stringent examination on the CIBSE Heat Networks: Code of Practice for the UK, jointly developed by CIBSE and the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) as a major component in the nation’s future energy strategy.

Associate design director David Cook, associate contracts director Matt Coy, design manager Dave Bradbury and senior design engineer Thomas Hollywood, proved to the assessors that J S Wright has the skills to meet the Code’s high standards for the design, installation and commissioning of district heating networks.

The Code of Practice aims to ensure that all district heating systems - those in which low carbon heat for developments comes from combined heat and power plants or recovered waste heat - are delivered in a low cost and secure manner in order to reduce carbon emissions, fossil fuel dependence and fuel poverty.

Marcus Aniol, managing director of J S Wright, said: “With the delivery of renewable energy systems a key area of focus in our residential work, this accreditation reinforces our position at the forefront of heat network design and installation.

“It also shows that by continuing to invest in the training and development of our people, we are providing the best possible service to our customers.”
