Fits right everytime: Zehnder launches EVO for seamless MVHR install in tight spaces

Indoor climate solutions manufacturer, Zehnder Group UK, has unveiled the Zehnder EVO – a Passivhaus certified, ultra-slim machinal ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system designed to overcome installation challenges in confined and challenging spaces.

Featuring a minimalist and intelligent design (approx. 210 mm in depth), the Zehnder EVO is perfect for installation in ceilings, pitched roofs, slimline cupboards, or service voids. The new MVHR is purpose-built to be mounted either on ceilings or walls, horizontally, vertically or at an angle and features flexible bi-directional spigots to ensure smooth air flow at any angle as well as a double-rotating condensate drain so no inclination is required.

Where previously specifiers had viewed indoor environments with significant space constraints as potentially unviable or more challenging for MVHRs, the flexibility and size of the Zehnder EVO changes everything - particularly for offsite-built projects such as POD manufacturing and modular housing.

But Zehnder EVO does more than just fit into compact spaces. The system boasts a market-leading heat recovery efficiency rate of up to 90%, ensuring minimal heat loss and contributing to substantial energy savings for end-users. The system also includes a 100% summer bypass function, which helps to reduce overheating in the summer months and is more efficient than a traditional, energy-intensive air conditioning system.

This system hits the mark on all key areas of indoor environment quality – improving air quality through balanced ventilation for supply and extract air, aiding visual comfort with its sleek and discreet design, enhancing thermal comfort with high-efficiency heat exchanger technology, and offering industry-leading acoustic comfort with its integrated insulation that reduces noise breakout. The Zehnder EVO also boasts anti-vibration brackets to keep the unit whisper quiet.

Stuart Smith, Commercial Director at Zehnder Group UK says: “Zehnder EVO is a gamechanger. It will open up the world of MVHR to builds that otherwise would have proved too challenging in terms of size and space. It’s one of the most versatile products in our range - and for its size, still boasts the same high performance as our bigger units. The days of Tetris-style installs and tenuous access points for maintenance and filter changes are a thing of the past.

“Developers, consultants and installers alike now have the ability to deliver high-quality indoor climate solutions across a much wider range of projects, from hospitality to student living. We are particularly proud of this product because it showcases how intelligent design can remove barriers, support sustainability goals, and raise the standard for indoor environmental quality across the built environment.”

The Zehnder EVO is available in three sizes to suit different airflow requirements:

· EVO 2 - up to ~200 m³/h (L 1100mm x W 600mm x H 210mm)

· EVO 3 - up to ~300 m³/h (L 1260mm x W 600mm x H 269mm)

· EVO 4 - up to ~400 m³/h (L 1260mm x W 600mm x H 269 mm)

The Zehnder EVO is fully compatible with Building Management Systems (BMS) and supports demand-controlled ventilation via humidity and CO2 sensors.
