Fast growing Swale Heating prepares for Green Deal

Swale Heating has been recognised as one of the fastest-growing businesses in Kent.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the company is listed in the annual MegaGrowth roll-call organised by the KM media group.

The MegaGrowth 50 table details Kent and Medway's fastest-growing privately-owned businesses over the past four years, ranked by growth in turnover. Swale Heating's turnover increased by almost 28%, from £27.291m in 2007-08 to £34,884m in 2010-11.

Separately, the company is putting a dozen staff through a comprehensive training programme to be accredited as approved Green Deal assessors, ahead of the scheme's nationwide rollout in January 2013. In addition, the company will become an approved installer of heating systems and renewable technologies under the plan, displaying the Green Deal Quality Mark.

Mark Pope, managing director of Swale Heating, said: 'There are major opportunities for independent heating services companies like ours to be involved. We are investing in training our staff to become accredited assessors and we are also putting arrangements in place to provide access to finance to householders under the terms of the programme.'

'If we have any concern it is that the Government needs to take the lead in promoting the Green Deal to the public. The concept behind it is unlike anything that has been tried before and the Government needs to be shouting from the rooftops to explain to householders in Kent and elsewhere how this works and why they should be involved,' he added.
