ebm-papst is to acquire part of a gas valve manufacturing group for wall-mounted and floor standing gas boilers from Karl Dungs GmbH & Co KG.
Hans-Jochen Beilke, chairman of the Board of managing directors of the ebm-papst Group, which is best known as a manufacturer of fans and motors, says: 'For us, the planned acquisition is an important step towards our strategic expansion of this market segment.'
The Dungs group is a specialist in gas, safety and control technology supplying to the heating and process heat industry and employs more than 600 people worldwide. The transfer of the GasBloc valve business for domestic heating technology, with heat output up to 80kW, will take the form of an asset deal.
Karl Dungs said: 'The planned transaction is consistent with implementing the alignment of our strategic direction with the core competencies of Dungs. We are increasing our focus on mechatronic systems in combustion engineering.'
The acquisition was initiated by ebm-papst's Landshut subsidiary near Munich.
ebm-papst employs over 10,000 people at 17 production facilities (including Germany, China, and the US) and 57 sales offices worldwide.
