The Government and Construction Leadership Council will unveil plans for the future of the UK construction industry at Talk Construction, a landmark conference, which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on 25 and 26 November.
A key speaker at the event is Peter Hansford, the Government's chief construction adviser. He will explain the industrial strategy for construction, a plan designed to ensure the UK continues to thrive in the face of increasing global competition. In addition, he will outline how the Government intends to support key areas such as the supply chain, SMEs and how companies can gain access to essential finance.
Chaired by broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Talk Construction is expected to attract around 500 delegates and offers a platform for leaders from the industry and government to meet to analyse, discuss and plan the future in the context of national and international economic conditions.
Talk Construction is also the first event of its kind in the sector to be research-led, not profit-based, and will include keynote speeches from some of Britain's leading construction professionals.
The conference will address all the major issues currently affecting the construction industry. Andrew Wyllie, Costain Group chief executive will talk about the drive to recovery and future competitiveness; Richard Threlfall from KPMG will look at attracting investment; David Philp from Mace Group, will discuss the challenges to be faced by embracing BIM technology and Judy Lowe from CITB will focus on overcoming challenges with leadership and skills gaps.
More than 25 speakers representing the UK construction industry including Wates Group, HSBC Bank, KPMG, Morgan Sindall and the UK Green Building Council will be present.
