Carbon reduction guide published

M&E Sustainability has published expert guidance, for both clients and building services engineering contractors, on the achievement of carbon reduction in large public and commercial organisations.
The guide, entitled Getting the Most from the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, is designed to help organisations to understand the implications, and to prepare for the introduction, of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), the phased implementation of which is scheduled to begin in April 2010.

As well as offering an overview of the CRC and its scope, the guidance provides practical advice to contractors, building owners and users on monitoring and reducing energy usage and on achieving commitment from all stakeholders, including staff, to an energy-saving culture.

Key sections address reviewing the energy requirements of a building and the introduction of renewable technologies, just one of Seven Routes to Carbon Reduction proposed in the guide.

The document emphasises the role m&e contractors are able to play in the achievement of a sustainable built environment. Much of the practical information contained in the guide is also likely to be useful to organisations not covered by the CRC.

The Getting the Most from the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme guide is available as a free download from the M&E Sustainability website at www.mech-elec.org.uk.
