Baxi Heating donated a Potterton Assure Combi 24kW boiler so that the charity could continue to help the community in a comfortable environment, especially during the cold snap that affected much of the UK this winter.
The MECC Trust has been running since 2002 and supports people over the age of 16 from the Black, Asian and minority ethnic community who live in one of the most deprived areas in the country. It has an open door policy for all residents in the community, regardless of their ethnicity, providing help with issues such as welfare benefits, debt, housing and unemployment.
Bob Candlin, fundraiser at the MECC Trust, said: “Following cuts in our funding, we have turned to charitable trusts in order to maintain our building and continue our work. Ours is the only project of its kind in the area and we deliver much needed support to some of the most economically disadvantaged people in society, many of whom do not have English as their first language.
“We operate free information, advice and guidance sessions that support and help men and women to get back into work or further training. We are very grateful to the Baxi Heating Charitable Trust for providing a boiler that means we now have heating and hot water at our premises.”
The objectives of the Baxi Heating Charitable Trust are the relief of sickness and the preservation of health, the advancement of learning and education, the maintenance and improvement of accommodation facilities for the homeless, and the prevention and relief of poverty.
