Australia and New Zealand launch big migration drive

Australia and New Zealand are conducting one of their biggest migration drives in years to attract skilled trades people down under.
Paul Arthur, director of migration advisors The Emigration Group said: 'There is a huge shortage of skilled trade's people down under. In New Zealand's Canterbury region alone they are looking for 30,000 construction workers to help with the rebuild programme and Australia is no different, with skilled construction workers from electricians to plumbers and engineers in demand. As a result there is major migration drive underway, offering a great opportunity for Brits looking to move down under.'

The Emigration Group hasteamed up with SkilledMigrantJobs.com, the Down Under Tradies Group and The UK Joint Industry Board to provide a series of trade specific events for UK and Irish trades people who are looking to emigrate.

The events offer the opportunity to meet with, listen and talk to key Industry bodies and companies that can offer work opportunities and placements in Australia and New Zealand and find out first hand what the training and regulatory requirements are for working down under.

The first event is being held in London, Twickenham Stadium on the 21 and 22 April, the second in Birmingham, Aston Villa FC stadium on the 28 and 29 April.

Mr Arthur said: 'Working down under is a totally different environment to the UK; there is more of a positive attitude, less stress and everyone working together to try and help the economy to keep growing.'
