ACE announces the winners of the Engineering Excellence Awards

The ACE Engineering Excellence Awards on 25 May was hosted by ITV News anchor Mary Nightingale at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, and brought together large and small consultancy and engineering firms from across the industry.
ACE chief executive, Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, said: 'This year’s awards were the most competitive we have seen with a remarkable standard of entry in every category.'

The awards also named the Engineering Ambassador of the Year. This year the prestigious title went to Hanif Kara of AKT2. Mr Kara is a founding partner of Adams Kara Taylor and is an enthusiastic exponent of using creative engineering to keep the UK’s industry one step ahead.

Sir Michael Latham received the lifetime achievement award in recognition of a long and distinguished career during which he helped 'redefine attitudes to procurement and efficiency in the industry'.

His 1993 report 'Constructing the Team' has been the genesis of new thinking through the Egan review, the Constructing Excellence organisation and chief construction adviser Paul Morrell's Innovation and Growth Team report.

ACE chief executive Nelson Ogunshakin, OBE said: 'I am delighted to endorse this award. Sir Michael Latham has been a strong ally of ACE over the years. He has chaired our Advisory Board since its creation, and has provided strategic and tactical guidance to ACE and its board members. His support has strengthened our work on proportionate liability and procurement. Sir Michael Latham is giant of a man in the UK Construction industry and fully deserves our acclaim.'
