UV and Ozone Technology
The use of Ultra Violet (UV) technology restricts the grease deposits within the canopy and extract ductwork and reduces the levels of odours experienced at the point of discharge.
By utilising the properties of UV technology the system produces two forms of reaction simultaneously. The combined process is a cold combustion process which utilises the direct effect of the UV-C radiation (light) known as Photolysis.
Photolysis works by photo de-composition which is the chemical breakdown of the grease molecules by photons.
The use of high intensity UV ozone producing lamps provides a secondary simultaneous action to Photolysis known as Ozonolysis.
This is the oxidation of grease molecules by Ozone (O3) which is generated by the lamps corona. Ozone is an oxidising gas that is carried with the airflow away from the lamps through the system to point of discharge. Therefore the oxidation due to the Ozonolysis action, is present in the ductwork as well as the UV chamber.
It is imperative that these systems are only serviced and maintained by properly and fully trained maintenance engineers, due to the complexity and health and safety risks associated with poorly or incorrectly maintained systems. All these systems utilise high power Ultra Violet Light and should not be looked at directly.

Water Wash and Mist Canopies
A water wash and mist canopy incorporates a cold water mist cycle that operates continuously throughout the cooking service period and a wash cycle that clears the grease and particulate to drain via a trough.
The water mist cycle works by dropping the temperature of the plume and coalescing the grease from the air into the water trough.
By passing cooking fumes through a wall of cold-water mist, a higher grease removal efficiency can be achieved.
The mixture of water and grease makes the removal of grease and particulate easier, the hot plume passing through the mist is cooled, causing the grease particles to coalesce and increase in size, this causes them to drop out of the air stream more easily when passing through the air turns of labyrinth filtration.
During the water wash cycle the system automatically washes down the water trough and the internal labyrinth blades or grease filters without the need for removal of the filters from the canopy at the end of the cooking period.
This automatically cleans the canopy internal faces to reduce the build-up of grease and particulate and to also maintain the canopy efficiency between maintenance intervals.
The washing cycle is fully automatic and programmable for use under different operating conditions. For heavy duty applications it can be programmed to operate more than once a day.
The wash cycle is normally activated each time the extract system shuts down. Hot water and detergent is premixed and sprayed into the canopy via a selection of nozzles for a pre-programmed cycle time from the control system which meters the dosage of the detergent required to clean the system.
This maintains a high level of hygiene and helps to protect the installation against grease deposits which if allowed to build up could constitute a fire risk.
The use of the correct detergent and regular maintenance is essential to keep the system operating efficiently and without any interruptions to the operation of the equipment.

Ecolex Odour Control Systems
Ecolex Odour control system is a unit consisting of a small compressor and a spray nozzle (or a series of spray nozzles) located in the extract duct after the filtration process.
These systems are normally fitted in addition to secondary filtration as the final stage of a system designed to minimise the discharge of odour.
The ideal method of reducing cooking odours is to destroy or remove as much of the contaminant particles from within the extract airflow as possible, prior to treating it with a deodorising agent.
Ecolex operates by drawing a chemical agent from a reservoir or container by using an air compressor. The chemical agent is mixed with clean air at an atomising nozzle located in the extract duct and the vapour is sprayed into the extract air flow. The chemical vapour then combines with the contaminants within the extract duct.
The Ecolex chemical is provided in two forms, scented and unscented.
The scented is designed for use on extract only systems to eliminate or mask the cooking odour, with the aim being to reduce the perceived nuisance and concentration of the cooking odour detected at the point of discharge to atmosphere.
The unscented version is suitable for a system with energy recovery which recirculates of a percentage of the extract air, helping to alleviate the issue of odour in the recirculated air.
The product has the advantage of being relatively low cost to install and maintain compared with the cost of installing and maintaining a fine particulate filtration system or UV system and does not add resistance to airflow.
The system requires regular maintenance to balance the correct amount of chemical from the system with the extract air and odour being treated as too much chemical can cause a nuisance smell of its own, whilst too little will not mask the odour.

Electrostatic Filters - ESP
An Electrostatic Filter (ESP) utilises the principle of Electrostatic Precipitation.
Air is drawn through the ESP filter by the system fan, through washable metal mesh pre filters which traps largest dust particles, the remaining particles, some as small as 0.01 microns, pass into a strong electrical field (ionizing section) where the particulate receives an electrical charge, provided the systems are correctly sized and maintained system efficiencies are between 90-98% are achievable, with a low system pressure drop across the unit.
The charged particles then pass into a collector plate section made up of a series of equally spaced parallel plates, each alternate plate is charged with the same polarity as the particles, which repel, while the interleaving plates are grounded, which attract and collect the particulate.
Regular cleaning of the filters, ioniser and collector cells is required to maintain the ESP Filter’s efficiency, we offer a service and maintenance program including a filter cell laundry and swap out service, ensuring your system is always cleaned and sanitised.
This cost effective and proactive service is available by taking out a maintenance contract, which ensures that your systems optimal service frequency is implemented and your system is in fully operational and efficient at all times.
Utilising our laundry and maintenance service ensures that the impact on the rest of the system is minimised and duct cleaning frequencies are kept to a minimum.
The Cell and Filter laundry service is a multi-stage process to ensure the Cells are returned to site in a ‘new’ condition, our process starts with your dirty cells being removed form site in a sealed box and returned to our cleaning facility, where the cell is degreased, cleaned, rinsed, sanitised and dried prior to testing, ensuring the cell will operate properly when returned to site, the box is cleaned, sanitised, dried and the cell returned to the box and stored ready for transportation to site on our next visit.

Extract and Supply Fan Maintenance
Fan maintenance is an important but often neglected part of a maintenance programme, as this is a critical part of your system, each van is stocked with a large range of fan drive belts (over 140 various types and sizes) and fan spares, and a large range of fan drive bearings, motors and inverters between 0.25kW and 17.5kw both single and three phase, are held in stock our warehouse which is accessible 24 hrs. a day 365 days a year, so if your fan fails for whatever reason, we are able to get you operational within hours to minimise the impact on your business.
We provide a service and maintenance programme that will provide you with the certainty that the equipment is being maintained to the manufacturers requirements, and then some, we will carry out regular inspections of the complete drive train and ensure the drives are aligned and tensioned correctly using a Laser Alignment tool, take thermal images and vibration measurements to build up a picture of the health of the Fan Drive Unit and pre-empt any potential failure.
Correct and incorrect alignment of motor and fan pulleys
Pulleys on the fan and the motor must be properly aligned, If they are out of alignment, the fan belt will rapidly wear and need premature replacement, It also is likely that misaligned pulleys will cause inefficient transfer of power from the motor to the fan.
How can you identify a worn fan belt?
One simple way to identify if a belt is worn is to look at the top of the belt, it should ride slightly above the top of the fan pulley, a worn fan drive belt will drop down into the pulley so that the top of the belt cannot be seen in the pulley. This can also be an indication of worn pulleys, if a new belt drops low in the pulley.
Remember if the belt is dropping into the pulley, you are using the same energy to move less air, as the effective speed of the fan is reduced.

Air Conditioning Service and Maintenance
To keep air conditioning systems and heat pumps working at the maximum efficiency air conditioning maintenance is essential. You would not expect to run a car without regular service and maintenance and the same principles apply to air conditioning equipment and plant.
We will provide a complete air conditioning maintenance schedule for all your air conditioning systems to ensure everything is working correctly and efficiently, but above all ensure that the system is toughly cleaned and sanitized, with the filters cleaned correctly and or replaced, as required by the manufacturer, at intervals suitable to your operation, providing maximum economy without exposing you to any risk.
We are trained and qualified to maintain all types, manufacturers and sizes of  air conditioning and ventilation plant and equipment.
Through our extensive experience and knowledge we are able to provide service and maintenance program to comply with current legislation and your requirements, we operate a first fix policy backed with vans which carry a large stock of spares, backed up by our extensive range of spares held at our office and warehouse.

Fire Suppression Systems
Amerex and Ansul fire suppression systems are specifically designed for restaurants and commercial kitchen environments and are a wet chemical dispersal system of similar design but with notable differences in the approach to the fire detection method, both systems are ‘pre-engineered’ to provide when installed and maintained fire protection as approved by LPCB and Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
Amerex and Ansul systems include fire and heat detectors with the plenum for automatic detection and activation of the fire suppression system both can be connected to an alarm system and have manual activation stations.
Both systems are available with fusible link detection for automatic operation, and although both are wet chemical each slightly different in its makeup and are not interchangeable
The Ansul R-102 extinguishing agent is a mixture of organic salts designed for rapid flame knockdown and foam securement of grease related fires.
The Amerex system agent is the Amerex KP liquid fire suppressant, a potassium acetate based solution that suppresses cooking grease fires through both saponification and cooling and does not harm stainless steel surfaces.
The Amerex system also has a pneumatic linear detection device instead of the traditional fusible links which greatly improves the detection process and reduces the maintenance costs by not requiring replacement fusible links every six months.
